PERSIST Event: PERSISTent to fight cancer, whatever I.T. takes
13 October 2022, 9:00 – 10:40 CET, European Parliament, Brussels
Digital health and care refer to tools and services that use information and communication technologies to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management of health-related issues and to monitor and manage lifestyle-habits that impact health. Digital health and care is innovative and can improve access to care and the quality of that care, as well as to increase the overall efficiency of the health sector.
The European Commission’s Communication on the Transformation of Digital Health and Care of April 2018 aims to enhance the digitization of the health and care sectors. The Communication identifies 3 pillars around which activities will be based:
- SECURE DATA ACCESS AND SHARING
- CONNECTING AND SHARING HEALTH DATA FOR RESEARCH, FASTER DIAGNOSIS AND IMPROVED HEALTH
- STRENGHTENING CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT AND INDIVIDUAL CARE THROUGH DIGITAL SERVICES
Project PERSIST is addressing all three pillars and tackles the challenges presented.
Against this background, PERSIST consortium is organizing a hybrid event aiming to:
- Raise awareness and improve the understanding among stakeholders on the key benefits from project PERSIST and other projects alike
- How the PERSIST mHealth app is applied and addresses people in need and tries to address the unmet medical needs, in context of digitalization
- Encourage the long-term commitment and engagement of policymakers and stakeholders on supporting and further developing projects as PERSIST
